One tiered fee: 20%, 12%, 8% — capped at USD 8,000.

We charge a single service fee calculated in bands on the medical costs billed by the hospital: 20% of the first USD 10,000, 12% of the portion from USD 10,000 to USD 30,000, and 8% of anything above USD 30,000. The fee is never less than USD 500 and never more than USD 8,000 per case. That is our whole revenue model. Medical fees themselves are quoted by the hospital, invoiced by the hospital and paid to the hospital — we take no commission from any institution on our list.

The fee schedule is provisional. It is confirmed in writing in your quotation before any payment is made, and the fee quoted to you is the fee you pay.

When the minimum applies: second opinions, single consultations, minor outpatient procedures — anything the hospital prices under USD 2,500.

How it is calculated

Three numbers, in this order.

The percentage only means something if you can see what it is a percentage of. So the hospital’s estimate always comes first, in writing, itemised.

Step one

The hospital quotes

You receive the hospital’s written estimate, broken down by procedure, implant or consumable, bed class and expected length of stay. This is their document, not ours.

Step two

We add our fee

Our banded fee on that medical total: 20% up to USD 10,000, 12% from USD 10,000 to 30,000, 8% above — minimum USD 500, maximum USD 8,000. It is shown as a separate line on a separate invoice, and it is a fixed function of their number: no negotiation, no case-by-case markup.

Step three

You pay each of us

Medical costs go to the hospital’s own cashier or payment channel. Our fee comes to us. The two never pass through the same account.

Hospital charges Our fee Total you pay Typical case
USD 1,800 USD 500 minimum USD 2,300 Second opinion, single consultation series, minor outpatient procedure.
USD 5,000 USD 1,000 USD 6,000 Diagnostic work-up, short admission, outpatient procedure.
USD 20,000 USD 3,200 USD 23,200 Elective surgery with implants and a one-week stay.
USD 50,000 USD 6,000 USD 56,000 Multi-cycle oncology treatment or complex cardiac surgery.

The figures above are arithmetic illustrations, not quotations. They show how the bands work: USD 20,000 is charged 20% on the first USD 10,000 (USD 2,000) plus 12% on the next USD 10,000 (USD 1,200). Your actual medical cost is determined solely by the hospital after it has reviewed your records.

One rule, three bands. 20% of medical costs up to USD 10,000, 12% of the portion between USD 10,000 and USD 30,000, 8% of the portion above USD 30,000 — with a USD 500 minimum and a USD 8,000 maximum per case. The minimum exists because a percentage of a small bill does not cover the work behind it — records translation, hospital submission, appointment chasing and an interpreter cost the same whether the treatment is a scan or a transplant. Small cases are still taken; they are simply charged the minimum fee. The cap means the largest cases never pay more than USD 8,000, however high the medical bill.
Scope

What the fee buys, and what it does not.

The percentage covers coordination, interpretation and administration for the whole episode — not a per-appointment meter. There is no separate charge for a longer stay, an extra department or a hospital that declines and has to be replaced.

Included

  • Medical-record collection, translation and formatting to the receiving department’s standard
  • Hospital and department matching, submission, follow-up, and re-approach if the first hospital declines
  • Appointment scheduling, registration, and the paperwork the hospital requires from a foreign patient
  • Interpreter at consultations, consent conversations, ward rounds and discharge, for the length of the episode
  • Coordination with your insurer or assistance company, and documentation in the format they require
  • Airport pickup, ground transfers, and a written handover to your doctor at home

Not included, and never marked up

  • Hospital charges of every kind — consultation, imaging, surgery, implants, medication, bed fees
  • Flights, accommodation, meals and local transport you arrange yourself
  • Visa application and consular fees, paid by you to the issuing authority
  • Medication and rehabilitation after discharge
The obvious question

Does a percentage fee give you a reason to inflate my treatment?

It is a fair question, and percentage fees do create that incentive — which is why the structure has to be neutralised rather than promised away.

We do not choose your treatment. The hospital does, on the basis of your records. We are not licensed to suggest a procedure, and we do not.

You see the itemised estimate before we earn anything. If a line item looks unnecessary, ask us and we will put the question to the department in writing and send you their answer.

If the estimate rises mid-episode, the additional medical cost carries an additional fee, and we are required to tell you that before the change is authorised — not after.

And we are paid by you only. No commission, rebate or in-kind benefit from any hospital, clinic or insurer on this site. A coordinator paid by the institution has a reason to send you where the payment is best rather than where the treatment is best.

Payment terms

How and when you pay.

Because the fee is calculated on the hospital’s charges, it cannot be final until the hospital’s final invoice exists. The staging below keeps that workable without asking you to pay for something you have not approved.

Initial review

No payment. We review your records and return a shortlist with an indication of medical cost and of our fee. If the likely medical cost falls below USD 2,500, the quotation shows the USD 500 minimum fee — before you commit to anything.

Free

On approval of the plan

40% of the estimated service fee, calculated on the hospital’s written estimate. This covers records translation, hospital submission and appointment securing.

Payable on acceptance

Before arrival

The remaining 60% of the estimated fee, once the appointment is confirmed in writing and your visa support documents have been issued.

7 days before travel

After discharge

The fee is recalculated on the hospital’s final invoice, using the same bands, minimum and cap, so the fee always matches what the hospital actually billed. If the actual total is lower than the estimate, the difference is refunded within 14 days. If higher, we invoice the difference with the hospital’s itemised explanation attached.

Within 14 days

Medical fees

Paid by you directly to the hospital, at its own cashier or through its payment channels. We never handle this money and never take a position in it.

At the hospital
On “provisional”. The banded schedule is our current published rate, and it is what we will quote you. It is provisional in one direction only: for unusually complex cases a different structure may suit you better, and where that happens we say so in the quotation, in writing, before any payment. The rate never moves up after you have accepted it. Nothing on this page overrides the figure in your quotation.

Cancellation

More than 14 days before arrival: the 40% deposit is refundable in full, less any translation work already delivered.

7–14 days before arrival: deposit refunded at 50%.

Under 7 days: deposit is non-refundable, because hospital slots and interpreter time have already been committed and cannot be recovered.

If a hospital declines your case after we have accepted it, the deposit is refunded in full.

Payment methods

  • International bank transfer (USD or EUR)
  • Major credit cards, subject to a processing fee
  • RMB transfer for patients already in China

A formal invoice is issued for every payment. Where your insurer reimburses coordination costs, we will provide documentation in the required format, though coverage of non-medical services varies widely between policies.

Not covered by Chinese public insurance. International medical services are self-pay or covered by international commercial insurance. Chinese national medical insurance does not apply, and this is a condition of the pilot programme itself.
