Who we are

The medical system here is excellent. It is just not legible from outside.

We are a patient-facilitation company based in Guangzhou, working exclusively with the hospitals named in Guangdong’s international medical service pilot. Our job is to make an unfamiliar system behave predictably for someone who has just landed.

Why we exist

The gap is administrative, not clinical.

Foreign patients do not fail to receive care in China because the surgery is unavailable. They fail at the front desk: no appointment without a Chinese-language record, no record without a local contact, no local contact without knowing who to call.

The 2026 pilot programme solved the institutional half of that problem. It created physically separated international wings, permitted self-pay and insurer-paid pricing, and cleared the way for direct billing with international insurers. What it did not do — and cannot do — is give an individual patient a person who knows their file.

That person is the entire product. Everything else we offer is a consequence of having them.

Operating principles

Three commitments we will not trade away.

These are not values statements. Each one costs us revenue, which is how you can tell they are real.

01

We are paid only by you

No commission, referral fee or in-kind benefit from any hospital, clinic or insurer on this site. A coordinator paid by the institution has an incentive to send you where the payment is best, not where the treatment is best. We removed that incentive rather than promising to resist it.

02

We will talk you out of it

Some patients should not travel. Advanced disease, unstable cardiac status, a procedure that is better performed closer to home, or a condition these hospitals do not actually lead in — we say so at the enquiry stage, before you have spent anything. A declined enquiry costs us a sale and saves you a futile journey.

03

We stay inside our lane

We do not diagnose, prescribe, interpret your scans ourselves, or recommend a treatment. Our team coordinates. The clinical judgement belongs to a licensed physician who has examined you — and we make that boundary explicit in writing, not just in conversation.

The team

Who actually handles your case.

A small, deliberately un-scaled team. Every case is assigned to a named coordinator who remains with it from first enquiry to follow-up call.

  • Case coordinators. Your single point of contact. They hold the file, chase the hospital, translate the logistics, and answer your messages — including at inconvenient hours across time zones.
  • Medical translators. Specialists in clinical documentation, not general translation. Pathology reports, imaging findings and operative notes use conventions that a general linguist will flatten.
  • Interpreter-companions. Present in person throughout appointments, assigned to one case at a time so continuity holds across visits.
  • Local logistics. Drivers, accommodation, and the unglamorous knowledge of which hospital entrance is the one international patients actually use.
  • Insurance liaison. Pre-authorisation paperwork, itemised invoicing, and direct-billing coordination with the hospitals that support it.
Legal status

What we are, precisely.

South China Medical is a private commercial patient-facilitation service. We are not a hospital, clinic, medical institution, or licensed healthcare provider, and we hold no medical licence because we do not practise medicine.

Our relationship with you is a service contract for coordination and logistics. It is not a doctor–patient relationship, and no clinical duty of care arises from it. Every clinical act in your pathway is performed by a hospital and its licensed physicians under their own obligations to you.

We describe hospitals using publicly reported information and the province’s own published pilot list. We hold no agency, endorsement or partnership arrangement with any of them, and we say so plainly on every hospital page.

Practical
